Fuel System

PlantSim 2 includes a detailed simulation the fuel system for direct firing of pulverized coal. PS2 simulates C-E style bowl mills to pulverize coal and tilting tangential burners to admit the fuel and air to the furnace. As crushed coal is fed to each mill(at a variable rate depending on load) hot air is drawn through the mill by its exhauster. The primary air dries the coal as it is being pulverized and fed through to the burner box compartments located at each corner of the furnace. The tilting tangential burners direct the coal and primary air mixture to the center of the furnace at an angle to to create a circular flame vortex, or fireball, in the center of the furnace. Fuel nozzels can be tilted up or down at a total angle of 40 degrees. The coal burner compartments are located at five separate elevations (corresponding to the five mills).
